Dana Elaine Owens, better than Queen Latifah America, is a rapper and actress. Queen Latifah is an American actress, rapper and singer. Queen Latifah was born in and was raised in Newark New Jersey the daughter of Rita teacher who taught at Irvington High School and Lancelot Owens Sr. as a police officer. Latifah's parents divorced at the age of Latifah was ten years old. aged, was 10 years old. Latifah was raised in the Baptist religion and went to Catholic school in Newark New Jersey. Mark James, aka DJ Mark the45 King, recorded the rap of Queen Latifah, aka Princess of the Posse. He gave the recording to Yo! MTV Raps the Fab Five Freddy. Dante Ross, an employee of Tommy Boy Music who heard the track and made a deal with Latifah in 1988 for the release of her first track Wrath of My Madness.
